Puncture Repair in Glasgow
A puncture is the one repair everybody puts off, usually because the bike is in a close and the pump is somewhere else. We collect it, fix it, and bring it back to your door.
Most repeat punctures are not bad luck. They happen because whatever caused the first one, a thorn, a shard of glass or a fragment of wire off a lorry tyre, is still embedded in the tyre carcass. Fit a new tube over it and you are flat again within the week.
So the job is not just the tube. We take the tyre off, run a finger round the inside to find what is still in there, check the rim tape underneath, and look at why it went down: pinch flats from low pressure look completely different from a sharp, and get fixed a completely different way.
On the Glasgow roads the usual culprits are glass on Dumbarton Road, hedge cuttings on the towpath, and pinch flats from running too soft over potholes. If you are getting them constantly, the answer is often a tougher tyre or a tubeless conversion rather than another tube.
What the job includes
- Tyre off, tube replaced or patched, and the carcass checked for whatever caused it
- Rim tape inspected, because a worn one punctures from the inside
- Tyre pressure set correctly for your weight and the surfaces you ride
- The rest of the bike given a safety look-over while it is with us
How it works
Book online or call, pick a day, and we collect the bike from your door. The work is done by hand in the workshop, anything extra is agreed with you first, and the bike comes back to the same door with a full photo report. See the areas we cover.
Other repairs we do
Every one of these is collected from and returned to your door.
